Qigong and the Treatment of Illness: Recent Case Studies.

Qigong is a tool of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It has existed for thousands of years and has been used as a natural treatment or remedy for a wide range of illnesses. The present paper reviews some recent studies that have used qigong to treat several illnesses, including back pain, cancer, cognitive impairment, depression and anxiety, fatigue, muscle strength and posture, and Parkinson’s Disease.

This article cites numerous studies that have found qigong and tai chi to be effective in treating a wide range of illnesses, then proceeds to review several studies where Ba Duan Jin, a popular set of qigong exercises and a tool of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been used to treat cognitive impairment.

Tai Chi, Qigong and the Treatment of Hypertension.

Qigong and tai chi are both considered tools in the toolbox of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Qigong has been in existence for thousands of years, whereas tai chi is of a more recent origin. Both are considered low-impact exercises that have numerous health benefits. The present article reviews some studies on the treatment of hypertension and high blood pressure using one or both of these tools of TCM. Numerous studies have found that tai chi and qigong exercises can have a significant positive impact on blood pressure, nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels.
